about
Eleven is a solo electric guitar work that utilizes an eleven-second loop that divides the work into three main sections. I wrote it just as I was starting to explore the fretless guitar, and though there is no fretless on this recording, the piece imitates that instrument using a slide and an ebow. Eleven was commissioned by and premiered by Seattle guitarist Michael Nicolella. It is dedicated to Nigel Tufnel, because D is the saddest key.
